What better way to celebrate the launch of a new LEGOLAND in South Korea than by filling the skies with LEGO AR planes, helicopters, and hot air balloons! As an addition to the park App, Figment created Miniland AR software so guests can use their phone to discover and enjoy unique LEGO content, including performing stunt planes, balloon demonstrations and low flying jumbo jets, circling above guests’ heads. For those without a smartphone, a permanent screen also displays flying AR content above Miniland on a loop, for all the guests to watch and enjoy.
We were also tasked with creating a Stargazing interactive, which is a fun and engaging way for children to learn about the real star constellations in the sky. This permanent outdoor touchscreen is positioned beside a LEGO version of South Korea’s oldest surviving astronomical observatory, and guests can use the interactive to explore a dozen LEGO constellations, using their finger to join up LEGO stars, whilst learning about the constellation names and their unique shapes.
Finally, to entertain visitors young (and old!) we developed an interactive dance floor to allow guests to interact with a LEGO music stage, which featured performing K-POP bands. A pressure sensitive LED dancefloor was programmed to respond to guests stepping and dancing on different coloured LEGO squares, and these choices then changed the content on the video wall behind the famous performing LEGO figures. K-POP-tastic!
